CORE TENNIS PROGRAMME

A comprehensive coaching programme designed to develop your game throughout the week with a mix of drills, technical demonstrations and match play.

• 30 hours

• Warm up / warm down sessions

• Group video analysis

• 1 to 6 players per group

• All coaching in English

• All players are grouped according to age and ability

TENNIS PROGRAMME - Each day will begin with a talk and a demonstration of a particular tennis stroke. The coaches will then concentrate on the day’s shot with the participants with an emphasis on both technique and movement. Without a reasonable level of fitness even a flawless technique will fail under pressure. An important technical theme will be the “early ball technique” -  the ability to hit the ball at an early stage of its flight so that one’s opponent has less time to be prepare. This ability is the hallmark of great players like McEnroe, Becker, Navratilova, Sampras, Hingis, Agassi and now Federer and Sharapova. There will also be the opportunity for supervised games, doubles’ and singles’ tournaments. The programme is designed to be challenging and instructive but also fun for everyone.

VIDEO ANALYSIS - Participants will have each shot filmed and analysed on video by the Head Coach. Each tennis stroke is subjected to expert analysis. Improvement is often hastened by a confrontation with the visual proof of one’s errors.

STANDARDS OF TENNIS -  We welcome participants of all levels, from beginners to advanced players. In order to get the best results, participants are divided into groups according to their standard and age. However, everyone gets the opportunity also to play against stronger players.

COACHES -  Specially trained instructors will include internationals, tournament players and coaches of outstanding ability and also a number of Oxford “blues”. Important attributes of the coaches, over and above a simple knowledge of tennis, are a sense of fun and an ability to communicate with people of all ages and standards.

To ensure the highest quality of coaching, the coaches are personally selected by Jonathan Markson. The essential attributes of any coach working with the Tennis Camps are the ability to motivate and inspire and to improve pupils technically, physically and mentally in an atmosphere of fun. The coaches will usually also be or have been successful tournament players, whose own proficiency acts as a role model for young aspiring players. All our coaches will stand out for their enthusiasm and patience.

IN OPTION : Performance Plus Tennis - A complementary training programme to the CORE tennis programme for players of 12 years and over with competition and tournament experience.
