As you know, finding suitable accommodation in London is a challenge. You could become a lovely hosting family for a nice foreign student if:
Your mother tongue is English or it is spoken fluently among you at home.
You like people, are open minded and interested in getting to know people from other nationalities and cultures.
You are willing to create an international friendship for your family that can last for many years.
You are happy to give the opportunity to young foreigners from Spain, France, etc. to discover London and improve their language skills.
You want to experience something new and exciting in your family life.
You have a comfortable spare bed in the room of your teenager or a spare room. Not all are families in the "conventional" sense. For example, there are people with many children or no children at all, older people whose children have left home and young couples, single persons, etc., who are eager to participate in our hosting programmeme.
According to the programme that our participant has chosen, the duration of the stay and the conditions are different. In each case, you have absolutely no fees to pay to our organization.
o Being a host family for 6/7 nights and up: weekly fee paid
Your guest (>16) will stay several days at your family home, and will contribute financially. If s/he is under 18, s/he can share the room of your teenager. If s/he is over 18, s/he will require a private bedroom. Bathroom can be private or shared.
Tip: as it is for such a short period of time, if you do not have a spare bedroom, you may choose to move someone at home to another bedroom.
If your flat or house is comfortable enough, we can offer you the possibility to receive two participants at the same time, preferably from different nationalities unless agreed with them. Twin rooms means two single bed: no double bed, no matress on the floor.
Your income will be agreed in advance and based on a weekly amount (from 1 week with 6 or 7 nights) according to the number of meals per day taken within your family. If you are happy to provide full-board, you are invited to prepare a good and healthy daily packed lunch. In any case, everything will be discussed and agreed with you in advance.
For you to be able to receive <18, we require a criminal record checking (CRB check) for every adult living in the house . This procedure is simple and needs to be done only once for all: we assess you to fill the form, we take care of everything. The Criminal Records Bureau currently charges £36 for an enhanced level check. There will be an administration fee of £14 for the Umbrella Body Agency that will work between Le Lay Language Consulting and the CR Bureau. You pay nothing beforehand, we will reduce from your income £50 per adult CRB checked in your family the first time only that you receive an <18.
o
Being a host family for
the ‘Let’s Talk programme’:
you receive free Spanish of French lessons for
full-board
Your guest (French or Spanish) will be over 18 and will live at
your family home for between 2 weeks and three months at your convenience. You
must provide him/her
with a private bedroom full-board.
Bathroom can be private or shared. Your guest will not pay you but s/he will
contribute with 15
hours of
conversational classes per week in his/her mother tongue to one (or several)
member(s) of your family. There are no strict rules and regulations to let
you both agree in advance on what your expectations are. We help you in that
process to make sure that your needs and wishes match BEFORE the programme
starts. Your guest is not a professional teacher but part of our service is to
prepare him/her to teach according to the level required in your family. For
more information on our programme please refer to its
description.
We believe in fair trade: you receive the full amount that is paid by the participant. We'll separately charge our Family finder fee.
Please call us: 0779 1582 849 (Christèle Le Lay), we'll come and visit you at your home to help you fill in the ‘Family Application Form’.
